How to apply

How to apply

The candidate to a position in the post-graduation program must previously contact the program to determine the research area and the supervisor. For that, he or she need to check the available Research Areas and contact one of the Supervisors directly, asking whether they would accept the candidate. Applications can be submitted to the Secretariat.

Please notice that a proof of proficiency in English must be obtained before selection of students (see below), since it is a prerequisite. Foreigners must also proof proficiency in Portuguese certified by CELPE-BRAS (http://celpebras.inep.gov.br/inscricao/), bestowed by the Ministry of Education and recognized by the Commission of Post-Graduation, or in accordance with the “REGULATIONS OF THE COMMISSION OF POST-GRADUATION OF RIBEIRAO PRETO MEDICAL SCHOOL – USP”, within one year after admission.

In this institution, Master’s must be completed within a maximum of 3 years, and Doctorate within a maximum of 4 years.

All courses are free of tuition or charge. There is only an application.

  • Application form
  • Form for “Initial Enrollment Application”
  • Copy of the diploma of Graduation (front and back) or copy of the Attestation of Conclusion, being obligatorily the date of the graduation of degree
  • Copy of Graduation Records (completed)
  • 01 photo 3×4
  • Copy of Birth or Marriage Certificate
  • Copy of Identity Card RG (Professional Registries or CNH will not be accepted)
  • Copy of the Elector’s Title
  • Copy of CPF
  • Copy of Military Document
  • Copy of RNE (National Registry for Foreigners) or RNE Protocol, in case of foreign candidate
  • Copy of passport in case of foreign applicant
  • Copy of proof of Proficiency in English (according to TEAP, TOEFL, ALLUMINI, IELTS and CAMBRIDGE exams, considering achievement equal to or greater than 60% of the maximum mark)
  • Copy of Proof of Proficiency in Portuguese for foreigners (according to Program Rules).

SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS OF THE PROGRAM

Master

  1. Curriculum Vitae (preferably in the LATTES Model http://www.cnpq.br, NO ENCADERNAÇÃO). Vouchers MUST be delivered separately
  2. Research Project to be developed during the course, in 1 print and 1 way in media or PDF by email (introduction, hypothesis, justification, methodology, references, schedule, maximum 20 pages)
  3. Declaration of a teacher accredited in the Program accepting to guide the candidate
  4. Certificate of Pediatric Medical Residency in a program recognized by the MEC or the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, for a minimum period of 2 years, or equivalent (only for I-Investigation in Pediatrics)
 Doctorate degree

  1. Curriculum Vitae (preferably in the LATTES Model http://www.cnpq.br, NO ENCADERNAÇÃO). Vouchers MUST be delivered separately
  2. Research Project to be developed during the course, in 1 print and 1 way in media or PDF by email (introduction, hypothesis, justification, methodology, references, schedule, maximum 20 pages)

  4. Certificate of Pediatric Medical Residency in a program recognized by the MEC or the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, for a minimum period of 2 years, or equivalent (only for option I-investigation in Pediatrics)

Selection Criteria

Master
Written test Critical analysis of an English text, taken from the recent literature, on general aspects related to the Health of the Child and the Adolescent, aiming to evaluate the comprehension capacity of the text, as well as the capacity of synthesis and expression of the candidate. Maximum duration time: two hours. Note from 0 to 10 Minimum mark 6 (weight 4)
Analysis and arguing about the curriculum Banking 3 teachers, to identify the reasons for the pursuit of academic and emphasizing the candidate’s training, research, whether scientific research, participation in scientific events, performing stages of specialization / improvement / residency and publications. Maximum duration time: one hour (half an hour for argument and half an hour for response, which may be in the form of a dialogue). Note from 0 to 10 Minimum mark 6 (weight 4)
Oral presentation and arguing about the research project Bank of 3 teachers. The scientific proposal, the methodology, the feasibility and its integration in the lines of research of the program and the time available for the development of the course will be evaluated. Multimedia equipment will be available for presentation of the project in a maximum time of 10 minutes. Maximum duration time after project submission: one hour (half an hour for argument and half an hour for response, which may be in the form of a dialogue). Minimum mark 6 (weight 2)
Final grade Arithmetic mean of the above items. Note lower than 6 in any of the selection criteria will imply elimination of the candidate.

 

Doctorate
Written test Critical analysis of an English text, taken from the recent literature, on general aspects related to the Health of the Child and the Adolescent, aiming to evaluate the comprehension capacity of the text, as well as the capacity of synthesis and expression of the candidate. Note from 0 to 10 Minimum mark 7 (weight 3),
Analysis and arguing about the curriculum Banking of 3 teachers, aiming to identify the motivations for the pursuit of academic training and emphasizing the candidate’s education, teaching and research activities, possible scientific initiation, participation / presentation of papers in scientific events, completion of specialization / medical residency and publications, mainly related to the masters (published or submitted). Maximum duration time: one hour (half an hour for argument and half an hour for response, which may be in the form of a dialogue). Note from 0 to 10 Minimum mark 7 (weight 3),
Oral presentation and arguing about the research project Bank of 3 teachers. The student’s knowledge about the project, the scientific proposal, the methodology, the feasibility and its integration in the research lines of the program and the time available for the course development will be evaluated.
